About Directorate of Legal Affairs
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs’ Directorate of Legal Affairs has the responsibility of representing all indirect tax cases (such as Customs, Central Excise, Service Tax, and GST) before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. The Directorate is now accepting applications for internships for the financial year 2023-24.
About the Internship
Law students and recent graduates are invited to apply for internships with the Directorate of Legal Affairs at the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs.
The DLA is responsible for representing all indirect tax cases (such as Customs, Central Excise, Service Tax, and GST) before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. The internship will involve various tasks, including reviewing case files, conducting legal research, drafting petitions, briefing counsels, and providing any other legal or general assistance to officers and counsels. If required, the interns may also accompany the departmental officers to briefing meetings.
Eligibility
- The internship opportunity is open to students pursuing a 3-year LLB course or a 5-year integrated LLB course, as well as law graduates who have completed a 3-year LLB course or a 5-year integrated LLB course within the past two years.
- Additionally, students who have appeared in the final year or semester examination on the cutoff date are eligible to apply in the Law graduate category. However, such candidates must provide proof of having passed the LLB course at the time of joining.
