About Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), India’s foremost investigative agency, functions under the authority of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. Initially established to tackle bribery and government corruption, it was granted additional powers in 1965 to address violations of national laws enforced by the Indian government, cases involving multi-state organized crime, and matters spanning multiple agencies or international borders.
